Are you in schools by yourself all day long without another OT around? Do you wish you had someone to bounce ideas, questions, and treatment activities off of? I’ve been there. And now, I’m here for you! Let’s talk and make you feel less alone amongst all the craziness that is school OT.

✔️ New Grad Learning

Learn how to organize your work, implement best practice interventions, write goals, battle imposter syndrome, and have quality evaluations, treatment sessions, & documentation.

✔️ Change of Practice Area

Learn more about School-Based Occupational Therapy and/or outpatient Pediatric Occupational Therapy. Discuss specifics on sensory processing, primitive reflexes, developmental milestones, & more!

“I know what it’s like to be in a job without support. I spent hours trying to teach myself new strategies that weren’t taught in OT school. I stayed up thinking about if my chosen interventions were going to work with a client. I constantly questioned if what I was doing was right. Now, I’m here to bridge the mentor gap. I want to empower others to avoid imposter syndrome and become confident and impactful school-based occupational therapists.”

FAQs

How long are mentorship sessions?

Each month, you will sign up for a 30-minute mentorship session at a time that works for you. Sessions are available between 6pm through 9pm Eastern Standard Time. The conclusion of mentorship will come as an agreement between Mentor and Mentee AND once outcomes have been achieved.

How do I collect Professional Development Units (PDUs) and how can I use them?

During our first session, we will create a list of objectives and outcomes that you’d like to achieve by the end of your mentorship. Following the NBCOT® guidelines (see link above), we will complete the required Mentorship Forms. These can be uploaded to your renewal log on www.NBCOT.com as PDUs. In order to qualify for PDU units, you must complete at least 4 mentorship sessions. Each 30-minute mentorship session counts for 0.25 PDUs. NBCOT® uses the following conversion rate: 2 hours = 1 PDU (maximum of 18 units per renewal cycle).

What should I expect for my first mentorship session? What about follow up sessions?

Your first mentorship session is a get-to-know-you session. Within the 30-minutes, we will create a list of objectives and outcomes that you want to achieve. Your next sessions will consist of topics of interest/learning, case studies from your current caseload, documentation review, reflection questions. Additional resources, including but not limited to research articles, journaling, and templates & activities, may be provided to further your learning potential.

I’ve been a mentee in the past. Can I collect PDUs on already completed mentorship sessions?

Unfortunately, we cannot backdate to previous sessions for PDU credit. Following NBCOT® guidelines, the mentorship forms must be completed and a plan developed and documented in order for mentorship meetings to be eligible for PDUs.

How do I cancel my membership? Can I skip a month?

Your monthly membership can be canceled at any time by logging into your membership account on www.emilymarieot.com . Months cannot be skipped. For your greatest learning potential, it best to continue monthly session until completion.
